Dr. Shagun Bhat is a Managing Principal at Onterris with more than 18 years of experience helping clients address complex air quality, environmental and regulatory challenges. A chemical engineer by training, Dr. Bhat provides technical and strategic guidance to clients in the chemical, petrochemical, and midstream oil and gas industries, with a focus on developing practical and sustainable solutions to complex air quality issues.
Dr. Bhat has directed strategic air quality permitting for some of the largest capital projects along the Texas and Louisiana Gulf Coast. His expertise includes air quality permitting and compliance, air dispersion modeling, emissions inventory development and improvement, optical emissions measurement technologies, greenhouse gas management, air quality planning and management, environmental due diligence, and litigation support. He has also served as an expert witness and consulting expert in litigation matters involving chemical fate and transport.
Dr. Bhat earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rice University, a master’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University, and a Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering from Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Technological University.
